Setting up webshop payment methods at Mollie or PAY

If the customer now orders a product, he will be forwarded to the payment provider (PAY or Mollie). You can set the different webshop payment methods by logging in to this party.


Activate payment methods in Mollie

Step 1. Log in

  1. Go to www.mollie.com

  2. Click on the top rightLog in.

  3. Log in with your email address and password (or use 2FA if that is enabled).


Step 2. Go to your dashboard
  1. After logging in, you will enter theMollie dashboard.
  2. Choose the right oneOrganizationandWebsite profileWhat you want to activate payment methods(A website profile is linked to the webshop or platform that you receive payments.)


Step 3. Opening payment methods

  1. In the menu, click onInstitutions→Payment methods.

  2. You will see an overview of all available payment methods (e.g. iDEAL, Bancontact, Credit card, Klarna, PayPal, Apple Pay, etc.).


Step 4. Request payment methods
  1. Click on the desired payment methodApplicationsOrActivate.
  2. Mollie may ask for additional information, for example:

    1. Additional business information (e.g. Chamber of Commerce extract).

    2. Check if your website is live and accessible.

    3. Specific requirements for some payment methods (such as Credit Card and Klarna).

InfoSometimes you have to have a certain payment method firstLet it be approvedby Mollie.


Step 5. Waiting for approval
  • For direct methods such asiDEALOrBancontactThis usually goes fast.

  • ForCredit cardsOrPay afterwards (Klarna, in3, etc.)This may take longer because Mollie checks your business manually.


You will receive an email from Mollie as soon as the payment method is activated.




Activate payment methods in PAY

Step 1. Log in

  1. Go to www.PAY.nl.

  2. Click on the top rightLog in.

  3. Log in with your username and password.


Step 2. Go to the dashboard
  1. After logging in, you will enter theService dashboardfrom PAY.nl.
  2. Choose the right oneService ID(This stands for your webshop or project).


Step 3. (Online) Opening payment methods
  1. Click on the left menu on the leftInstitutions.
  2. Go toPayment methods. You will see an overview of all available payment methods (e.g. iDEAL, Bancontact, Credit card, PayPal, Pay afterwards, etc.).


Step 4. Activate payment methods
  1. Click on the desired payment methodApplicationsOrActivate.
  2. PAY.nl may request additional information, for example: Additional documentation for some methods (e.g. Paying credit cards or afterwards).


Step 5. Approval by PAY.nl
  • Some payment methods are directly active (e.g. iDEAL, Bancontact).
  • Other payment methods require manual approval by PAY.nl or the payment provider (e.g. Credit card, Klarna, AfterPay)


You will receive a notification in your dashboard and often by e-mail as soon as the method is approved.
